Hello, it’s me… the thing many of you look at 300+ times a day, yes, your smartphone! That equals a lot of social media use depending on your thoughts. However, the worst thing one can do is ignore technology and social media. It will continue to influence almost everything that we do, including events.
TRAQ-IT would like to provide five recommendations for using social media to promote your next event.
Use These 5 Social Media Tactics to Promote your Next Event
Hashtags
A simple rule to follow in regards to hashtags are keep it short and memorable if you want to maximize the potential of social media for the promotion of the event. Hashtags are an easy way to track your event across social media platforms for your attendees and you as well. Use the same hashtag in every post and encourage those in your company and event attendees to do the same.
Post Often About Your Event
This step is easy, post and post often. You want to stay top of mind with your followers to remain relevant. Cater to your followers on social media and help them get information out of your posts. If you don’t post relevant subjects to your followers, expect to be ignored or unfollowed. Think about what you can post that is creative, yet content that speaks to your brand or company. Include images in your posts to help with maximum engagement. Space out product information with lifestyle content or industry related news.
Communication
Communication is key. Engage with your followers and others on social media who you want to become interested, so they come. In order for them to come, you will have to engage with them before the event starts. Create a hashtag and get people to follow it! Engage with those who use it.
Use Multiple Social Networks
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are popular social networks we would encourage you to join. Along with these networks, you should diversify your efforts. Are you familiar with social networks like LinkedIn, Tumblr, Youtube and Pinterest, as well as niche-specific networks for social media event promotion? A blog is also a good source to grow your network and event.
Measure social media activity
The more you use social media, the more understanding you have of what’s working and resonating with your social media followers. You will be able to tweak your strategy accordingly, and which will in turn drive more ticket and registration sales. A few metrics you could include to measure social media effectiveness are below:
• Engagement rate. Are your followers or others on social media engaging with your posted content? Stay on top of industry trends and re-post your top content to improve your engagement rate to increase visibility in feeds.
• Sales. If you can figure out a way to track sales, see how many sales each social media channel has driven in your final reports on the event.
• Return on investment. Come up with a measure you can monitor your ROI (return on investment) to make sure your money and time spent on using social media is paying off. The more you can TRAQ-IT, the better results you will get.
